Role Gate Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Role Gate, a Discord role-verification bot operated by The Misfits Order, a Solana NFT community project ("we", "us"). By connecting your Discord account, linking a wallet, voting in a poll, or adding the bot to a Discord server, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Role Gate.

What Role Gate does

Role Gate assigns and removes Discord roles based on the NFT holdings of the wallets a member links to their Discord account. A server administrator adds the bot and defines rules that map roles to on-chain holdings (for example, owning a number of NFTs from a collection, or NFTs with particular traits). Members prove wallet ownership to receive the roles they qualify for, and roles are kept in sync as holdings change. Server administrators can also run holder polls.

Eligibility

You must have a Discord account and meet Discord's own minimum age and Terms of Service requirements.

Wallet verification

• To link a wallet you sign a message that proves you control it. If you use a hardware wallet, you can choose instead to sign a memo transaction that is never broadcast. Neither moves funds or creates an on-chain transaction.
• The message always names tools.misfitsorder.com. Only sign it on that site. If another site asks you to sign a Role Gate message, don't.
• We never ask for, receive, or store your private keys or seed phrase, and we cannot move your assets.
• A wallet can be linked to only one Discord account, and an account can link up to 10 wallets.

Server owners and administrators

• Holding requirement. To set up and run a server, its owner must hold at least 30 Misfits across the wallets linked to their Discord account. We check this daily. If the balance drops below the requirement, the server gets a 7-day grace period with reminders by Discord DM, after which Role Gate pauses for that server until the requirement is met again. Existing member roles are not removed by a pause. We may change this requirement, for example to a subscription, with notice.
• Each Discord account can set up one server.
• Permissions. Administrators must be the server owner or have the Manage Server permission, and this is checked each time they make a change. To create a rule for a role, they must also have Manage Roles and the role must sit below their own highest role.
• Role Gate never grants roles with moderator or administrator permissions (such as Administrator, Manage Server, Manage Roles, Kick, Ban, or Timeout Members).
• Administrators are responsible for the rules, roles, and polls they create, and for running their server in line with Discord's terms.

Polls

• Server administrators can run holder polls and choose how votes are weighted: one vote per verified member, one per holder, one per NFT, or by role.
• Each NFT counts once per poll, whichever account votes with it. Member-weighted polls are open to members who hold a Role Gate role in that server.
• Other eligible voters and the server's administrators can see each voter's username, chosen options, and vote weight. Votes stay with the poll after you delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
• Poll results are for the server's own use. They are not binding on us, and we are not responsible for decisions a server makes based on them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse Role Gate, including attempting to obtain roles or votes you are not entitled to, linking wallets you do not control, sharing or moving wallets or NFTs to farm roles or votes, interfering with or overloading the service, or using it for any unlawful purpose. Requests are rate-limited to protect the service. We may suspend access that violates these Terms.

Third-party services

Role Gate relies on Discord, the Solana blockchain, and third-party blockchain data and infrastructure providers. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of Discord, Solana, or any marketplace or collection. Your use of Discord is also governed by Discord's own terms and policies.

No financial advice

Role Gate is not financial, investment, or legal advice. NFT ownership and value can change at any time. Roles reflect on-chain holdings at the time they are checked, not the value of any asset.

Availability and "as is"

Role Gate is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Role assignment depends on third-party services and on-chain data, so it may be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable. We do not guarantee that a role will be granted or removed within any specific time.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from role changes, poll outcomes, service interruptions, third-party service failures, or your use of Role Gate.

Changes and termination

We may update Role Gate or these Terms at any time. Material changes take effect when posted here. You may stop using Role Gate at any time by deleting your account from Manage Membership, or by unlinking your wallets and revoking the bot's access in your Discord settings. We may modify or discontinue the service.
